Upcoming Events: Wednesday, March 10: 6:30 pm Informational meeting about the seventh and eighth grade class trip this spring. Meet in the seventh and eighth grade room with Pastor and Mr. Utech.
Third Quarter Chapel offerings support Mission: Haiti. We will continue to collect money offerings, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and bars of soap as we support the relief efforts after the terrible earthquake in Haiti in January.
Lutheran Schools Week- Yesterday students helped start our celebrations by wearing hats and also wearing team jersey’s to school. Today students had the opportunity to come to school dressed as a twin, or triplet, or more, depending on how many students cooperated in their clothing. Wednesday we travel to Davie and attend a concert at Gloria Dei. The concert starts at 11:00 am and we will have lunch after the concert. We will be leaving by 10:00 am and drivers are needed. Several of my parents have said they will help drive. I thank you for taking the time to help transport the students for this sharing opportunity with other Lutheran Schools and to hear the concert. Thursday we have a dress up day with pictures. Friday there will be a servant event in which students in grades 5 to 8 will help pack up food supplies and help serve lunch to needy individuals. On Friday we also will have pictures taken of the eighth graders in their caps and gowns and will be measured for those caps and gowns.
March 13, 2010 Shepherd of the Coast will have a float in Fort Lauderdale’s Saint Patrick’s Day Parade at 2 pm. Watch our kids and pastor as they are involved in the parade. Students will sing in church at the 9:30 am service as we finish our celebration of Lutheran Schools Week.
March 14 from 4 to 7 pm, Open House. Invite your neighbors and friends to come see our school remodeling and to hear about your child’s school as we look forward to growing and continued ministry in Christian education. Your child has gotten two invitations to hand to other families that may be interested in having their child attend our school. The visiting families will turn in their invitation from you and get a $10 Starbucks certificate. If you invite families to come to the Open House, and they attend, you will get $50 for inviting them and their attendance at the Open House.
Chapel services during Lent will be held at 10 am. Parents are welcome to join the students and congregational members as we remember the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ as he came to sacrifice Himself for our sins. The next service will be Wednesday, March 16 at 10 am.
Students have been given a list of missing school work for this quarter and have only a few days to complete the work and turn it in before the missing scores becomes a zero.
Tests this week: Social Studies chapter 16 test Tuesday, March 9.
Science chapter 16 test Wednesday, March 10.
Both subjects need the vocabulary completed.
Sharing God’s Blessings,
Mr. R. Utech
