March 2, 2010

As we move though this Lenten season, we find that our Chapel Talks are based on one of the letters written by St. Peter. How much do you know about this man? When he met Jesus, he was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee. No doubt he exptected to spend his life doing this. As a fisherman, he was probably a little on the rough side, possibly even using language that we aren’t supposed to use. Jesus changed that when He asked Peter to be one of His disciples. There was no hesitation, Peter didn’t thnk about where his food and lodging would come from, he simply left everything and followed Jesus.

That’s not the end of the story, though! Many times Peter tripped over his own words, saying things he should have not said. Even up to the night Jesus was betrayed and on trial, Peter DENIED knowing Him! Did Jesus throw him aside? NO! He called him to account, Peter confessed his sins and was forgiven.

Do YOU often find yourself doing things, like Peter? Do you have to go to Jesus and ask for forgiveness? Know that IF you are sorry for your sins He will forgive you. That’s how much Jesus loves each of YOU!! He even died and rose again so that you could live forever. What a gift! What love!

Share that with someone today, and everyday.
In His love,
Pastor Russ
